Meta ad rejected · Circumventing Systems

Why was my Meta ad rejected for Circumventing Systems?

Updated · By Ahmed, six years running Meta ads

Short answer

A Circumventing Systems rejection means Meta thinks your ad or its landing page was set up to hide what people will really see from review, for example through cloaking, misleading redirects or disguised text. Make the ad and page show the same honest offer to everyone, then resubmit or request another review in Meta Business Support Home.

Also change: Replace the tinyurl.com link with the full, direct product page on your own brand domain, and make sure that page matches the ad and has no banned or prescription claims. Set the ad set to 18+ only. The original ad gave no ingredient or price, so I added none. Add a real ingredient or offer in the headline if you have one.

Weight-loss supplement ad uses a URL shortener, deliberately obfuscated spellings to evade review, unverifiable "banned" and urgency claims, and no 18+ targeting signal, so rejection risk is very high.

What usually triggers it

  • Cloaking: showing Meta’s review systems one page or app and showing people a different one. Meta’s Spam policy names this directly.
  • A link that promises one thing and delivers something substantially different, or that redirects people to a substantially different domain.
  • Swapping the landing page after approval for content that would not pass review. Meta treats different content for reviewers and for users as cloaking.
  • Disguising words, or pairing the real promotion with unrelated text, so automated review misses what the ad is about. Meta does not allow any attempt to evade its review process.
  • Opening new ad accounts, Pages or business portfolios to keep running the same ads after Meta restricted or disabled the old ones.
  • Fake buttons or trick landing pages: play or Like buttons that don’t work, pop-ups that trap people when they try to leave, or domains that imitate a known brand.

How to fix the ad

  1. Point the ad at the real landing page and make sure every visitor, including Meta’s review, gets that same page.
  2. Use the full destination link. Remove redirects that land people on a different domain from the one the ad shows.
  3. Name the actual product or offer in plain words. If you can’t describe it openly in an ad, check whether Meta allows it at all.
  4. Write words normally. Remove deliberate misspellings, symbols inside words and text that has nothing to do with the offer.
  5. Remove fake play buttons, fake Like buttons and exit pop-ups from the creative and the landing page.
  6. If the offer changes, update the ad and the landing page together, and let the edited ad go through review again.
  7. If an account was restricted, deal with that account in Business Support Home. Moving the same ads to a new account makes things worse.

If your ad is already rejected

  1. Open Meta Business Support Home (you may see it called Account Quality) and check which ad was rejected and why.
  2. Open the landing page in a normal browser on mobile and desktop. Confirm it matches the ad and stays on the same domain.
  3. Fix the cause, then edit and publish the ad so it is reviewed again, or create a new ad in the same account.
  4. If you believe the rejection is wrong, request another review in Business Support Home. Don’t delete the ad first, or you may lose that option.
  5. Keep screenshots of the ad, the landing page and the dates of any changes, in case the account is reviewed later.

Likely to be rejected. Fix the flagged lines before you upload.

This supplement ad combines a personal-attribute callout, a specific weight-loss result, guaranteed results, clickbait and a URL shortener, so it is very likely to be rejected.

Personal Attributeshigh

“Are you struggling with belly fat?” · primary text

The ad asserts a personal characteristic about the viewer by addressing them directly about a body condition.

Fix: Our gummies are designed to support a healthy metabolism.

Unrealistic Outcomeshigh

“helped Maria lose 12 kg in 3 weeks!!!” · primary text

A specific weight-loss amount within a short timeframe is an exaggerated, unrealistic result, and supplement ads must target 18+.

Fix: Remove the specific result; use a general statement such as 'Part of a balanced routine for healthy weight management.'

Unrealistic Outcomeshigh

“GUARANTEED RESULTS” · headline

Guaranteed results are a prohibited claim for health and weight-loss products.

Fix: Use 'Start your wellness routine today' or remove the claim entirely.

Low Quality or Sensational Contentmedium

“Doctors hate this one trick.” · primary text

This is classic clickbait, and the triple exclamation marks add to the sensational tone.

Fix: Replace with 'Learn how our gummies fit into a healthy routine.'

Unrealistic Outcomeshigh

“See the before and after pics.” · primary text

Before-and-after comparisons for weight loss are high risk and draw rejection.

Fix: Remove the before-and-after reference and focus on the product's ingredients.

Circumventing Systemshigh

“https://bit.ly/slim-offer” · landing page

URL shorteners hide the true destination and are high risk, and can lead to account-level enforcement.

Fix: Use the full, direct landing page URL on the brand's own domain.

Questions

Can I appeal a Circumventing Systems rejection?

Yes, you can request another review in Meta Business Support Home if you believe the ad was rejected by mistake. Meta says re-reviews rely more on human reviewers and it aims to decide within 48 hours, but the decision may stay the same, and you can only request one review per ad.

Will this get my ad account banned?

It can. Meta says it may restrict or disable ad accounts, Pages and business portfolios used to evade its enforcement or review processes, and severe or repeated ad violations can lead to advertising restrictions.

Is it a problem to open a new ad account after a restriction?

Yes, if the aim is to keep running the same ads. Meta lists creating new ad accounts or business assets to repeat violations as evading enforcement, and it may also restrict accounts owned by the same person as a disabled one.

Does Meta check the landing page too?

Yes. Meta’s Spam policy covers off-platform pages, including cloaking, misleading links, deceptive redirects and pop-ups that trap people, and Meta tells advertisers to check the landing page when fixing a rejected ad.

Can I change the landing page after the ad is approved?

You can update your site, but the page must still match the ad and follow the rules. Showing Meta’s review one page and people another is cloaking, and editing the ad itself sends it back through review.

Where is the Circumventing Systems policy now?

Meta’s Business Help Center still uses the name Circumventing Systems. In the Transparency Center, the same rules now sit under Spam (cloaking, misleading links, deceptive redirects) and Account Integrity (accounts used to evade enforcement).
