Meta ad rejected · Cryptocurrency Products and Services
Why was my Meta crypto ad rejected?
Meta rejects ads for crypto exchanges, trading, lending, mining software, wallets that let people buy, sell, swap or stake, and crypto investment offers unless the ad account has Meta’s written permission. Apply in the Authorizations and Verifications tab with a license Meta recognizes for your country, or keep the ad to content that needs no permission.
What usually triggers it
- Ads for crypto exchanges or trading platforms, including spot, margin and futures trading, from an ad account without written permission.“Trade Bitcoin and Ethereum with low fees on our app.”
- Wallets that offer more than storage, such as buying, selling, swapping or staking.“Swap tokens and earn staking rewards inside our wallet.”
- Crypto borrowing or lending products.“Borrow cash against your crypto in minutes.”
- Crypto mining software. Mining hardware does not need permission, but the software does.“Mine crypto on your laptop with our free app.”
- Asking people to invest in or join crypto platforms, including affiliate and aggregator sites that link to investment offers.“See the 5 best crypto platforms to invest with this year.”
- ETFs that hold crypto or track crypto prices. ETFs made up of shares in crypto companies do not need permission.“Our new ETF tracks the price of Bitcoin.”
- A licensed business advertising from an ad account that has not been approved. Meta checks whether the ad is in scope and then whether that ad account is approved.“An approved exchange launches a campaign from a new ad account it never added to the authorization.”
How to fix the ad
- Check whether your ad needs permission. Exchanges, trading platforms, lending, mining software, wallets that offer buying, selling, swapping or staking, and crypto investment ads do. Crypto tax services, news, education and events, NFTs, storage-only wallets and mining hardware do not.
- Check that you hold a license or registration Meta lists for the country you will target, for example FCA authorization in the UK, FinCEN MSB registration or a New York BitLicense in the US, or FINTRAC registration in Canada. If your country or license is not on the list, Meta will not approve the application.
- Apply in the Authorizations and Verifications tab in Meta Business Suite: choose the country, give your business details and ad accounts, upload the license, and accept the Meta Cryptocurrency Ads Addendum. A license that is not in English needs a notarized English translation as well.
- Wait for the decision before you run anything. Meta says it usually decides within 48 business hours, though some reviews take longer.
- If you advertise from more than one ad account, share the approved authorization to each one in the same business portfolio through the same tab.
- Keep the license active, because Meta can revoke the authorization if it lapses. Permission does not exempt the ad from Meta’s other policies, so also check our income claims guide.
Risky wording, and safer wording
Illustrative examples to show the difference. Always check the full ad, image and landing page too.
| Risky | Safer |
|---|---|
| Buy, sell and stake crypto in one app. Sign up today. (No permission on the ad account.) | The same ad, run only after the ad account has Meta’s written permission for the country targeted. |
| Our wallet lets you swap and stake any token. | A hardware wallet for storing your crypto offline. Storage only. (If that is all the product does.) |
| Compare the top crypto platforms and start investing today. | A free beginner course on how blockchains work. No trading or investment offers. |
| Join our crypto lending pool and earn on your coins. | Crypto tax returns prepared by our accountants. |
| Download our mining app and start earning. | GPU mining rigs, built and tested in our workshop. |
If your ad is already rejected
- Read the reason in Meta Business Support Home (formerly Account Quality) or in the rejection notice, then check the Cryptocurrency Products and Services policy to see whether your ad needs permission.
- If it does, apply in the Authorizations and Verifications tab, or check the status of the application you already made there. Resubmit only once that ad account is approved.
- If you believe your ad does not need permission, for example crypto news, education or a storage-only wallet, request another review in Business Support Home. Meta aims to decide within 48 hours, and if it is rejected again you cannot request another review for that ad.
- If your application was rejected and you believe that was a mistake, you can re-submit it with proof of your license or registration. If your country or license is not eligible, Meta will not approve it for now, though it says the eligibility list may change.
- Do not run the ad from a different ad account or reword it to hide the crypto product. Editing or deleting a rejected ad does not remove the violation, and severe or repeated violations can restrict the account.
Check your next ad before you upload it
Paste the copy and add the image or video. The free checker scores the rejection risk, points to the exact words at fault and the Meta policy behind each one, and suggests a safer version. It estimates risk; it isn't a decision from Meta.

This supplement ad combines a personal-attribute callout, a specific weight-loss result, guaranteed results, clickbait and a URL shortener, so it is very likely to be rejected.

“Are you struggling with belly fat?” · primary text
The ad asserts a personal characteristic about the viewer by addressing them directly about a body condition.
Fix: Our gummies are designed to support a healthy metabolism.
“helped Maria lose 12 kg in 3 weeks!!!” · primary text
A specific weight-loss amount within a short timeframe is an exaggerated, unrealistic result, and supplement ads must target 18+.
Fix: Remove the specific result; use a general statement such as 'Part of a balanced routine for healthy weight management.'
“GUARANTEED RESULTS” · headline
Guaranteed results are a prohibited claim for health and weight-loss products.
Fix: Use 'Start your wellness routine today' or remove the claim entirely.
“Doctors hate this one trick.” · primary text
This is classic clickbait, and the triple exclamation marks add to the sensational tone.
Fix: Replace with 'Learn how our gummies fit into a healthy routine.'
“See the before and after pics.” · primary text
Before-and-after comparisons for weight loss are high risk and draw rejection.
Fix: Remove the before-and-after reference and focus on the product's ingredients.
“https://bit.ly/slim-offer” · landing page
URL shorteners hide the true destination and are high risk, and can lead to account-level enforcement.
Fix: Use the full, direct landing page URL on the brand's own domain.

Creative: remove any before-and-after images and any overlay text about kilos lost. Show the product or lifestyle shots instead, with overlay text like "Support your healthy routine". Set ad targeting to 18+.
