Accounts and assets · Advertiser verification
Why is Meta asking me to verify my identity to run ads?
Meta may ask you to verify the advertiser and payer behind your ads, using a government ID for a person or business documents for an organisation, and if you miss the deadline your ads can pause, and some accounts are restricted until verification is done. Start it in Meta Business Suite under Authorizations and verifications.
When Meta asks for verification
- You deliver ads in a country whose laws or guidelines require advertiser verification.“A verification notice appears after an ad set targets a country with transparency rules.”
- Your ads promote things Meta considers more open to abuse from scammers.“A prompt to verify appears during ad set creation, in the Ad transparency section.”
- You pay for ads that benefit another advertiser, as agencies and resellers do. Both the advertiser and the payer may need verifying.“An agency runs a client’s ads from the agency’s own business portfolio.”
- You advertise financial products and services to audiences in regions where Meta requires it, including Australia, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States.“Mortgage or insurance ads targeting the UK.”
- You run ads about social issues, elections or politics. This has its own identity confirmation, and the ID must be from the country where you want to run the ads.“A charity campaign about a local ballot question.”
- Your account is restricted and Business Support Home lists Confirm your identity or Complete verification as the next step.“A restricted ad account whose What you can do section asks for ID.”
How to complete verification
- Check where you stand: no deadline, an upcoming deadline, ads already paused, or account restricted. If there is a deadline, verify before it so your ads don’t pause.
- Decide who to verify. The advertiser is the person or business whose product the ad promotes; the payer is who pays for the ads. For agencies, Meta says both are the client.
- Make sure the right person has access. You need at least partial access to the ad account, such as admin or advertiser, and to be in the business portfolio if the account sits in one.
- Start verification in Meta Business Suite under Authorizations and verifications, or in Ads Manager under Advertising settings, Verifications and ad transparency.
- For a person, choose the country that issued the ID, the ID type, and upload a clear photo. Meta may reject IDs that are blurry, poorly lit, cut off, screenshots or photocopies.
- For an organisation, enter its name, address, phone and website. Pick the matching record Meta finds, or upload official documents such as a certificate of incorporation that match those details, then confirm by email, phone, text, WhatsApp or ID.
- If you run certain regulated ads in Australia, India or Taiwan, such as financial services or securities and investment ads, have the licence or registration number ready. After you submit, Meta says it shares an updated status within 2 business days.
If ads are paused or verification fails
- If your ads are paused or the account is restricted, complete verification. Meta says that is what restores the ads or the account.
- If the status says Needs more information or Verification unsuccessful, read the explanation, fix the problem and resubmit. Check that the ID photo is sharp and fully in frame, and that business documents match the name, phone and address you entered.
- Only submit your own real details, or those of a business you are authorised to represent. Meta says false or misleading information, or trying to get round its verification review, can stop you being verified and lead to further action on the account.
- If Meta marks information as verified that you don’t recognise, delete it in Authorizations and verifications and verify the correct details manually.
- Keep records of what you submitted and when, including the advertiser and payer you chose for each ad account.
Check your next ad before you upload it
Paste the copy and add the image or video. The free checker scores the rejection risk, points to the exact words at fault and the Meta policy behind each one, and suggests a safer version. It estimates risk; it isn't a decision from Meta.
Likely to be rejected. Fix the flagged lines before you upload.
This supplement ad combines a personal-attribute callout, a specific weight-loss result, guaranteed results, clickbait and a URL shortener, so it is very likely to be rejected.

“Are you struggling with belly fat?” · primary text
The ad asserts a personal characteristic about the viewer by addressing them directly about a body condition.
Fix: Our gummies are designed to support a healthy metabolism.
“helped Maria lose 12 kg in 3 weeks!!!” · primary text
A specific weight-loss amount within a short timeframe is an exaggerated, unrealistic result, and supplement ads must target 18+.
Fix: Remove the specific result; use a general statement such as 'Part of a balanced routine for healthy weight management.'
“GUARANTEED RESULTS” · headline
Guaranteed results are a prohibited claim for health and weight-loss products.
Fix: Use 'Start your wellness routine today' or remove the claim entirely.
“Doctors hate this one trick.” · primary text
This is classic clickbait, and the triple exclamation marks add to the sensational tone.
Fix: Replace with 'Learn how our gummies fit into a healthy routine.'
“See the before and after pics.” · primary text
Before-and-after comparisons for weight loss are high risk and draw rejection.
Fix: Remove the before-and-after reference and focus on the product's ingredients.
“https://bit.ly/slim-offer” · landing page
URL shorteners hide the true destination and are high risk, and can lead to account-level enforcement.
Fix: Use the full, direct landing page URL on the brand's own domain.

Questions
Is advertiser verification the same as business verification?
No. Business verification is done in Security Center for the business portfolio. Once complete, ad accounts in that portfolio may be able to use the verified business details as the advertiser and payer.
Will verifying give me a blue badge?
No. Meta says verifying your business in Meta Business Suite is different from Meta Verified for businesses and won’t give you a verified badge.
I run ads for clients. Whose identity do I verify?
For agencies, Meta says the advertiser and the payer are the client. If that person has no access to the ad account, you can give them access, or they can verify from an account they already use and you reuse the verified details.
How long does it take?
Meta says it reviews your submission and updates the status within 2 business days in Authorizations and verifications.
What happened to the beneficiary field?
From March 2026 Meta uses the term advertiser instead of beneficiary, so ads with transparency show verified advertiser and payer information.
What if I’m not required to verify yet?
You can still verify now. Meta encourages it to prepare your account for future requirements and avoid disruption to your ads.
